Bhaidooj Cakes
Bhai Dooj is one of the major festivals of India, also spelt as Bhaidooj, Bhaiduj or Bhai Duj. Bhai Dooj is celebrated on the fifth and last day of Diwali. The name 'Dooj' means the second day after the new moon and 'Bhai' means brother.
The festival is celebrated by brothers and sisters to strengthen the bond of love they share. On this auspicious day, sisters put “tilak” (meaning a “vermillion mark”) on their brother's forehead and pray for their long life. In return, Sisters are lavished with gifts, goodies and blessings from their brothers and a promise to stand by their side in all hardships of their lives.
Nowadays, sisters who are away from their brothers and are unable to meet their brothers send their tika - a “vermillion mark” – either by post or by email, specially remembering their siblings on this propitious occasion. Sisters who can meet their brothers can always think of pampering their brothers with delicious Bhai Dooj Theme Cakes with beautiful messages.
